TIC held a joint meeting with Labour, TRA and Immigration Commissioners to brainstorm measures to improve services at One Stop Facilitation Centre .


December 6th 2018: Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC) organized a stakeholders’ meeting to brainstorm measures that would improve service delivery at One Stop Facilitation Centre. The meeting involved the Commissioner for Immigration, Commissioner for Labor, Commissioner General for Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) and the representative from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East Africa Cooperation. The aim was to discuss challenges and recommendations in relation to improving investment and business environment in Tanzania through services offered to investors at the One Stop Facilitation Centre on issuance of work permits, residence permits and TRA approvals.

 

Among others, the meeting resolved that Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) under one stop facilitation centre to improve communication among themselves and consult each other whenever further information is required to enable them to swiftly reach optimal decisions on applications submitted by investors. The meeting also agreed that MDAs to jointly conduct regular public awareness and education programs on procedures for application of various permits and licenses. Lastly, the MDAs jointly propose and review laws and regulations governing investor’s permits and licenses issuance with a view to align them and eliminate any conflicting clauses.

 

Speaking during the meeting the Executive Director of TIC Geoffrey Mwambe said, the issue of improving investment climate was crucial and should be given attention as it threatens efforts of investment attractions for the benefit of the Nation. He further said that, the Prime Minister Hon. Kassim Majaliwa during his official visit to TIC on 4th December, 2018 directed TIC to improve services provided to investors under One Stop Facilitation Center.

 

 

The Prime Minister’s himself visited TIC on 4th December, 2018 where he instructed the TIC Board of Directors and Management to work with other stakeholders in the Government with view to immediately improve investors’ services. The Premier also visited TIC’s One Stop Facilitation Centre to familiarize himself with its operations and services issued to investors by various MDAs Officers stationed at One Stop Facilitation Centre including Ministry of Labour, Immigration Department and TRA.

 

On 12th November, 2018 President of the United Republic of Tanzania H.E. Dkt. John Pombe Magufuli ordered TIC to move from being under the Ministry for Industry, Trade and Investment to the Prime Minister’s Office, which is responsible in coordinating all Government activities with a view to streamline decision making and ultimately help in efforts to improve investment climate in Tanzania.
