Spain to open up for business and investment in Tanzania in edible oil, fishing, pharmaceutical industry, tourism and car assembly sectors .

The Ambassador of Spain in Tanzania Hon. Francisca Carretero visited Tanzania Investment Centre on 16 September 2019. Among others, they learnt about TIC, investment climate and available investment opportunities that can fit businessmen and investors from Spain. She was accompanied by Mr Raimundo Rubio; Director General for Africa in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, The European Union and cooperation and Ms. Agness Tengia from Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East Africa Cooperation. The delegates were hosted by Mr. Mafutah Bunini, the Acting Executive Director of Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC).


 At TIC, the delegates get to know overview of investment climate and opportunities in Tanzania and about the support mechanism put in place by the Government to facilitate investors through TIC. It was said that, investors wishing to invest in the country will be facilitated through TIC One Stop Facilitation Centre; whereby investors are assisted to obtain various permits, licenses, and approvals through one window. Furthermore, registered projects under TIC enjoy fiscal as well as non fiscal incentives providing a soft landing for investors. The sectors outlined as opportunities for investments are agro-processing, cane sugar production, mining and mineral processing, automotive industry(manufacturing and assembling), processing of edible oil, pharmaceutical industry and medical equipment, real estate, cotton &textiles, fishing and aquaculture, livestock and leather industry, tourism and leisure industry and infrastructure network.


Mr. Rubio on behalf of the Spanish businessmen and investment community said that, Spanish Companies are thinking to expand their businesses and investments in Tanzania after South Africa and Morocco in Africa. They recognize the efforts undertaken by the Government to improve the business and investment environment. Thus, he will influence investors/businessmen from Spain to invest and do business in Tanzania in potential sectors such as edible oil, fishing, pharmaceutical industry, tourism, car assembly, and manufacturing.


Finally, Mr. Bunini has invited the potential companies from Spain to visit Tanzania and find opportunities through TIC for guidance and facilitation to enable them to invest in the areas of their interest
